Custom Robotics R&D
for Critical Infrastructure
We design, build, and test robotic systems for the hardest jobs in utility operations, and help fund the R&D to get them there.
Utilities face problems that no off-the-shelf robot can solve.
Live-line work, confined spaces, buried and in-pipe assets: these jobs need robots engineered around the specific asset, environment, and safety rules, then proven through real testing.
Arcadian runs that R&D with you. We design, build, and test custom robotic systems, and help assemble the federal, state, and utility funding that keeps programs moving from prototype to field trial.
“Advance the adoption of fit-for-purpose robotics across energy and industrial infrastructure, making them practical, proven, and standard.”
Your Robotics R&D Partner
Arcadian Robotics designs, builds, and tests custom robotic systems for utilities and energy infrastructure. Our team has led robotics R&D programs funded by DOE, ARPA-E, U.S. DOT/PHMSA, and utilities, taking systems from concept through prototypes and field trials.
We work the way utilities do: methodical, evidence-driven, and grounded in engineering standards and safety practices, in close collaboration with the people who operate these systems every day.
From Problem to Field Trial- Define the problem with your operations team and scope a funded R&D program
- Design, build, and test custom robots, tools, and sensor systems
- Validate in the lab and in field trials, and plan the path to adoption
Generic robots rarely fit utility assets, environments, and safety rules.
The hardest problems need purpose-built systems.
Funding runs out. Operators disengage. Requirements shift.
Promising prototypes never reach the field.
Custom engineering, rigorous testing, and new funding through grants, cost-share, and utility co-funding.
Built for systems that must work beyond the lab.
One Partner Across the R&D Path
We run custom robotics R&D for infrastructure owners, and partner with technology developers and research teams to apply their work to utility problems.
The Arcadian Bridge

Most robotics programs lose momentum between prototype and deployment, the valley of death (dashed line). We carry them across with engineering and program discipline, and bring in new funding through federal and state grants, cost-share and matching funds, utility co-funding, and strategic investment.
We run custom robotics R&D for utilities: defining the problem with your team, structuring a funded program, and designing, building, and testing the system through field trials, so your team can focus on operations.

What Our Clients Say
We hired Arcadian Robotics to design an in-pipe deployment module for our bending stress sensor, and they delivered on schedule: trade study, requirements, FMEA, and concept design. What we didn't expect was the commercial help. They put us in front of 12 natural gas pipeline operators, and those conversations changed how we pitch the product. They also led us to a funding source and a commercialization partner we hadn't found on our own. We'd bring them in again on the next phase.
Arcadian helped us plan and simplify the design of our automated oyster farm. They cut cost and complexity, which is helping us move faster.
Arcadian Robotics has been instrumental in opening doors we couldn't have opened on our own. Their deep understanding of how utilities and energy companies operate, combined with genuine relationships at the right levels, helped us identify real applications for our platform and get in front of the decision-makers who matter. They don't just make introductions, they stay engaged, help us navigate the process, and ensure we're positioned to succeed. For any robotics company trying to break into the energy and infrastructure space, they’re the partner you need.
